Focusing on international fiction series, this podcast covers what the rest of the world is watching. We argue whether a series is binge-worthy or just a bomb.
Gordon and Sherman come from the world of TV and film, having produced, acted and created content for the past 30 years. Opinionated, and sometimes contentious, this podcast series is a fun 20 some odd minutes exploring the best and the worst in narrative TV fiction. And it’s free.

Ellen:
“Pre-pandemic, a friend introduced me to a Spanish series called “Money Heist.” It was spectacular. I couldn’t believe the whole world didn’t know about it. Which, as it turned out, they did! It’s just that we in the States were missing out. And missing out on lots of other great programming from around the world. I wanted to spread the word. A media consultant once advised that you should only create a podcast about a topic on which you could talk for an hour if you happened on a friend in a parking lot. So, this is it for me. Just don’t come across me in a parking lot. Unless you have an hour.”
Gillian:
“I was writing and lecturing about TV narrative and the showrunner as auteur when I started binging everything online. Netflix was the first platform to recognize that people wanted to consume TV in big chunks. It was more like watching cinema. I became delightfully addicted.
My taste in bingeing is diverse as I have lived outside the US for more than half of my life. Through television, filmmakers all over the world are gaining access to an audience that was once the reserve of film festivals and art houses. Any night of the week, we can watch work from great auteurs like Matteo Garrone, Paolo Sorrentino, Jane Campion, David Fincher, and Cary Fukunaga as well as series from up-and-coming talent.
Making a podcast was a natural extension of all the conversations I have been having with colleagues, students and friends. It seemed easier to make a podcast with my ole pal Ellen than answering all the requests for what to watch!”
